-Intense subjectivity: the writer focuses on his or her self, on his or her actions and feelings as a person. The group receives no attention; usually society, «the world», as Espronceda says, is perceived as an enemy, an opposing and hostile force to the poet’s development.
-Intimacy: the inner world is much more important than the outer world; external actions lack the relevance that internal ones have. The intimate and personal life, also private, of the person, of the poet, is the literary focus.
-Emotivity and sentimentality: feelings and emotions acquire maximum relevance. Actions, often mechanical, do not acquire the depth of feelings, true reflection of the person.
-Love and death: these are the two great thematic focuses of romantic writers. Love is a metaphor for happiness and joy; death is a metaphor for pain and anguish. When the death is that of the loved one, as in the poem we are commenting on, the pain is multiplied and its artistic expression is deep and expansive.

Saladillo en vivo 2004

54 páginas. 3,75 x 5,5 pulgadas.

Ezra pound – the cantos – canto i

The heart full of hope, the soul fearless of change, the soul is filled with future pleasure, the spirit is sure of its illusion, and the memory is free of memories, and the soul and all new, all hopes, the happy young man.
The roses on the stems rise up, crowned with dewdrops, the fluttering birds sing to the soft sound of the murmuring of the river, sparks of light brighten the air, sprinkling the shady forest with gold; and if the aura murmurs love to the flower, the flower gives it aromas and colors.
Why do you return to my memory, sad memories of lost pleasure, to increase the anxiety and agony of this deserted wounded heart? Alas, of those hours of joy, the heart has only a moan left, and the weeping that the eyes deny to pain, tears are of gall that fill the soul!
And those sweet hours that passed so briefly, alas! as later wept, hours of trust and delight, of abandonment, and love, and caresses, and so the hours passed quickly, and our fortune passed at the same time…
